Retreatant Inquiry
I thought Gratia Plena was a discernment house. Who else can visit Gratia Plena?
Yes, Gratia Plena is a House of Discernment for Catholic women who feel they may be called to a consecrated or religious vocation. We also host non-residents of any age or stage in life to enjoy hospitality here in the form of "come and see" visits and mini-retreats. All women seeking a quiet place to pray for a day or two, or a weekend getaway, are welcome at Gratia Plena.
Where is Gratia Plena located?
We are located in Lenexa, Kansas, a friendly suburban community within the
Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas. Gratia Plena is on the campus of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, offering Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation, and many outdoor prayer areas within just a few short steps of the house.
What does a Gratia Plena retreat include and what is the schedule?
We offer an environment where you can unplug from your daily life and find a place of rest. We provide the environment and the meals, while you determine your own schedule. Attend mass, pray in the Marian Garden, nap, read, journal, listen to music, work on a hobby... you decide! We can provide guidance and structure if you’d like, but there is not a set timeline nor a set of expectations.
Will I be doing activities with the Resident Discerners?
While the Director and resident discerners joyfully welcome you, this retreat is all about YOU! Of course, you will be invited to common meals and common prayer times (morning, evening, nighttime, holy hour, rosary). The discerners all have their own jobs and activities, so your paths may or may not cross much during your stay.
How many people can Gratia Plena host at one time?
We have sleeping accommodations for the In-Resident Director and up to 4 residents. There is a guest room, as well, which is typically where the retreatant(s) stay. Depending upon the current resident count, we usually host one or two retreatants at a time.
Can I come just for the day instead of spending the night?
Yes, feel free to come for just a day. We will work with you to set up a schedule that will best suit your needs.
Is there an age requirement to attend a retreat?
We welcome all women who are 21 years of age and older.
What should I bring?
Be comfortable, this is your time to rest and recharge. Holy Trinity offers many outdoor areas for prayer and reflection, so dress appropriately for the weather. If you will attend mass during your stay, please bring clothes appropriate for church.
What is the cost of a retreat?
There is no cost to stay at Gratia Plena. Your prayers and free-will offerings sustain our mission.
